Summer names
Estival: Estival means ‘belong to or appearing in summer’ and is another name for the summer solstice.
Jonas: Jonas is a reference to the Saint Jonas’ Festival that celebrates midsummer in Lithuania.
June: June is a reference to the summer month of June and is traditionally the month in which the summer solstice occurs. In Latin it also means ‘young’. It was derived from the name of the Roman goddess ‘Juno’, who was the goddess of marriage, home, and family.
Litha: Litha is the Midsummer Festival celebrating the summer solstice along with fertility and fulfillment.
Strawberry: Strawberry is in reference to the Strawberry Moon, a name received for the June full moon when strawberries were commonly harvested.
Summer: Summer is an obvious choice, directly referencing the season of summer.
FALL NAMES
August: August is a reference to the last summer month of August.
Autumn: Autumn is a direct reference to the fall season.
Hunter: Hunter is in reference to the Hunter’s Moon, a full moon also known as the ‘blood moon’ that follows the Harvest Moon and is typically present in October or November. It gets its name from the Native Americans, who, after harvest, would hunt deer to prepare for the winter months.

wINTER nAMES
Ash: Ash is in reference to Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent. Ash Wednesday is usually in February, although it can fall on a March date in spring.
Holly: In terms of the summer/winter solstices, the Holly King traditionally represents winter as he battles the Oak King for control.
Lucy: Lucy is a reference to Saint Lucy’s Day, a holiday on December 13th that commemorates Lucia of Syracus as a festival of light.
Yule: Yule is a winter festival observed by the Germanic people celebrating the winter solstice and a return of the light.
Spring names
Beltane: Beltane is a May Day festival commonly between the spring equinox and the summer solstice celebrating the peak of spring and the coming summer.
Crow: Crow is in reference to the Crow Moon, a full moon in March. Native Americans named it after the caws of crows that signalled the end of winter.
April: April is a reference to the spring month of April. In Latin it means ‘to open’.
May: May is a reference to the spring month of May. In Latin it is short for ‘Maia’s month’, referencing the Greek goddess Maia who was a companion of Artemis.
